The UK Civil Aviation Authority's (CAA) General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) is the opening competence where your flying ability is assessed by an authorised assessment centre on behalf of the CAA.
The GVC competence is the minimum qualification needed to apply for an Operational Authorisation (OA) in the Specific Category. It is minimum standard needed to be able to apply for most professional UAS Remote Pilot jobs.

ASG are a long established CAA-approved Recognised Assessment Entity (RAE) and TQUK Recognised Centre.
Our 'in person' L4 RQF Award in UAS is awarded by TQUK, who are OFQUAL regulated and also includes ALL elements of the multi-rotor or fixed wing GVC and the A2CofC.
RQF L4 AWARD IN UNMANNED AIR SYSTEMS
ELCAS funding available for Service Leavers - pay your fully refundable minimum 20% personal contribution when you reserve your place. If you are claiming ELC, please book, and use the invoice received to allow your ELC claim to be approved. Then submit your CAN to us separately.

FLY SAFELY
- Ground school (GVC exam, also covers A2CofC) - 2 days
- All Flying Training (to GVC standard) - using our DJI Enterprise drones - 1 to 2 days (weather dependent)
- GVC Flight Assessment - this also covers the second part of the L4 assessment.
RQF L4 WORKBOOK
This must be completed to achieve completion of the L4 Award. It is based fully on the GVC/A2 CofC ground school and requires approximately 14 hours self study and writing to complete.

L4 Course details
The first (attendance) phase of the L4 course gets you flying safely and focuses on getting you into the aviator mindset, with fully CAA approved training. Starting with our A2CofC and GVC ground school and exam, fully insured practical flying lessons on our drones and finally a flying assessment that qualifies you to the CAA's GVC standard.
If you are looking to apply for your own CAA issued PDRA-01 Operational Authorisation, we will also provide your Operations Manual template and support you with direct advice and guidance to ensure your application is successful. The cost of applying to the CAA for a Specific Category PDRA-01 Operational Authorisation is NOT included in the course price.
The second phase's aim is to get the L4 workbook completed - take this away with you on completion of the training to research and complete in your own time. We will support you to ensure that you are able to complete it successfully. Once it meets the assessment criteria, TQUK will issue your L4 Award.

Both courses include the GVC and A2CofC qualifications, but the L5 includes our GVC+ as well. The L4 workbook is based on the GVC, whereas the L5 workbook takes you much further into the detail of the knowledge and skills required to manage flying organisation.

Where do you carry out GVC training and assessments?
We are located between Warminster and Shaftesbury in South Wiltshire, near the A303.
Do I need to bring my own drone?
No, we now conduct all flying training on our own fully insured UAS Fleet.
For multi rotor flying training we use only DJI Enterprise drones, such as the DJI M30 & M4Dock Series and Matrice 400 as they are truly representative of Specific Category UAS.
Is this course suitable for a complete beginner?
YES! Our L4 course is suitable for a beginner. You just need to complete you CAA FlyerID online to complete registration for this course. All details will be sent in your Joining Instructions.
ASG provides a whole UAS ecosystem to an Emergency Services organisation with equipment selection and provision, flexible training of qualified pilots to a new aircraft type, training of ab-initio pilots and currency training.
