Frequently Asked Questions

We know the world of drones can feel overwhelming. That's why we've put together answers to the most common questions we get asked about our courses, products, and consultancy services. Can't find what you're looking for? Don't hesitate to get in touch, we'll always give you honest advice.

I'm a beginner and don't know where to start, can you help?

Get in touch!  We love to help people.  We offer unbiased, non-salesman type help -

we won’t try to sell you a drone or a course unless you actually need one.

Do I need drone training or a drone qualification?

Training is needed for all the qualifications, and whether you need a qualification depends on the size/weight of the drone you want to fly and where you want to fly it.  However, you may well want training from a friendly aviation export to get the best experience from your drone even if you don’t need a qualification.  See our course and qualifications page.

Where do you run your drone training courses?

We are based near the village of Chicklade on the A303 in rural Wiltshire, however we can deliver courses anywhere suitable across the UK.  Get in touch to discuss options!

Do you sell drones?

Yes - we are official DJI Enterprise resellers and we can offer very competitive pricing.

Can you train me how to use my drone like an expert?

Yes - as well as the qualification type training required by the CAA - the A2 Certificate of Competence / the General Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) Certificate / or the new Remote Pilot Competence-Level 1 Part A (VLOS) & Part B (Beyond VLOS with Visual Mitigation), we are DJI Dock, Geospatial, Inspection and Public Safety specialists.

We can train you both how to operate the full DJI range and how to get the best from the equipment in multiple situations.  We also offer academically rigorous RQF Level 4 Award in Unmanned Air System and Level 5 Award for a UAS Operations Manager courses, awarded by TQUK, part of the AQA group.

Can you guarantee the weather will be good during my drone flying course?

No, whilst he’s good, sadly our Chief Instructor isn’t that good, but fortunately we’ve lost very little time to bad weather over the past few years as we try to plan ahead and we also use advanced DJI drones that can fly well in poor weather.  We give clothing / footwear guidance in our course joining instructions.

Do I need to bring my own drone to train on?

No, we provide all the drones needed for all our courses, however, if you have something specialist that you want training on, then just get in touch and we’ll see if we can support you.

Are you insured?

Yes - we have full Public, Product, Employee liability insurance as well as the required Drone insurance to cover operations and flying training to EC785/2004.
